First Meeting For New IPC Shooting Committee
The newly appointed members on the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Shooting Sport Technical Committee (STC) have had their first official meeting at the Gustav-Stresemann-Institut e.V. (GSI) in Bonn, Germany.
Taking place from 19-20 June, the meeting was aimed at discussing and reviewing upcoming events and competitions. As a result, the future outlook for the Paralympic Sport and the STC is positive and successfully on track.
The IPC Shooting STC made four new appointments to the committee in late May, which included Mr. Rune Soerlie (NOR) serving as the IPC STC Chairperson, Mr. Jalil Koohpayehzadeh Esfahani (IRI) as Vice Chairperson, Ms. Sally Hall (GBR) as Head of Classification, and Mr. Ferdinand van Hoeven (NED) as the Head of Competition and Officiating.
The focus of the meeting in Bonn was also on the 2010 IPC Shooting World Championships which are to take place from 16-24 July in Zagreb, Croatia. Organized by the Croatian Paralympic Committee, the competition will be bringing in top shooters from all around the world.
At the same time on 23 July, the 2010 IPC Shooting Sport Forum will be occurring in the Croatian capital. The forum will be a gathering of representatives and experts in the Paralympic Sport of Shooting, with the goal of building a successful future together.
In early May, representatives of the IPC also met with the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in Munich, Germany, to discuss current and future prospects. Meeting at the ISSF Headquarters, both ISSF and the IPC took the opportunity to get to know more about each other's rules and regulations, as well as to dicuss areas of common interest. This was the first meeting between ISSF and the IPC, with the main purpose of introducing each organization to the other.
